If you’re just starting to get into the spirit of Halloween and don’t really want to go all-out, this is a nice first step. It’s relatively easy to make and it doesn’t take up much space, so it’s perfect for those who don’t have a large porch. This simple design has just about everything you expect to find around Halloween time – a list of witch’s recipes, a pumpkin, a crow, broomsticks, a skull, and a large black spider – all packed nicely into a single cauldron. More bats, fewer bats, a different swarm shape, or even different colors could make this already fun project absolutely delightful. One of the wonderful things about this display is that it can easily be modified. Each piece is likely mounted on its own individual wire, but the bats could also be mapped out and then applied individually directly to the door and walls they swarm against.
This all-black swarm of petite and sleek bats is expertly arranged. This piece serves as both a decoration and a greeting, much like a doormat. If you’re especially brave or skilled, you can even try freehand lettering. After that, the dots can be painted and after them, the letters spelling out “Boo” can be stenciled on. The base layer of this design should be applied first.
